Community Involvement

Volunteering time outside of my career has always been an important aspect of my life and my success. I enjoy meeting new people and building my network, I enjoy being a decision maker and impacting organizational strategy, and I enjoy teaching my skills and learnings to others.

Board of Directors - Simcoe-north PC Riding Association
VP Communications simcoe-North riding 2019 - present

As Vice President of Communications I report directly to the riding association President, Stuart Spiers, and MPP Jill Dunlop. I am responsible for communications between the riding association and its constituency - Simcoe North. This involves devising ask letters, email marketing campaigns, and managing social platforms. In addition, I have undertaken a complete redesign of the riding associations website and advise on digital strategy. As a sitting board member I am involved in everyday activities, budgeting, and political strategy.

Board of Directors - penetanguishene curling club 2018 - present

While sitting on the board of directors for the curling club, I have been a part of a big change over the last two years. In 2019 the board worked as a team to secure a nearly $100k grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) towards a new ice plant. The board has been tasked with reinvigorating membership - an aging population has left the club with a declining membership base and many facilities in disrepair. We have introduced a new league, cut spending, and gone through a digital transformation. In addition to board duties, I manage the “Tuck Shop” - inventory management, ordering, accounting and sales.

For the past few years I have really enjoyed instructing youth curling for the little rocks elementary school league of Penetanguishene. I teach the rules of the game and technique, but more often than not I’m a babysitter on the ice trying to diffuse broom fights.

soccer Goalkeeper coach - kingston Clippers soccer club 2006 - 2017

I was fortunate as a youth to receive top level goalkeeper instructions from a world renowned coach. I played at a very high level of competition in Ontario and even travelled to the U.K. to play overseas. I began coaching youth goalkeepers in Kingston and the surrounding area. This transitioned into starting a goalkeeper academy which became a revenue generating vertical for the club - a couple of my pupils now play at the varsity level. I devised the curriculum and managed coaches.
